Macramé, a form of textile-creation which uses various knotting techniques, is making a comeback everywhere from fashion to interior design. Beginning in the 13th-century in the northern regions of Africa, macramé was primarily used in protective garments for desert animals. It grew in popularity as costume wear during the Victorian era and is most recognized as a fixture of 1970’s grunge and hippie culture. As trends ebb and flow, macramé is resurging in new and unexpected places.
Onastazia Mullen is a local artist best known for her custom calligraphy and handmade jewelry which she delicately engraves.
